Watching Man U. v Rangers, Champions League game and noticed, for the first time, the Endline Officials (ELO). I knew they were going to use them in the Champions League but it had floated to the back of my mind. The few times the cameras have shown them they look a bit bored.
I noticed on a DFK by Rangers at 10:10 about 30yrs out the ELO was no where in the camera frame. I would expect him to be a little closer to goal. Immediately following the shot there was run by Man U. at goal and the ELO on that side was much closer to goal. I'm wondering if the "mechanics" for this position are of a "learn as you go" type.
It will be interesting to see if they have any impact on games.
